The Her Village event is a gathering of amazing women from established, budding, and aspiring businesses coming together to pour into themselves spiritually, mentally, physically, financially, and emotionally. I attended for the first time last year and knew within the first 15 minutes that this would be an annual event for me. It was incredibly powerful and empowering to be in community with so many women in business. If you are still undecided on whether to attend––or even if you have decided––here’s what you can expect from Her Village:
All the feels & amazing speakers
If I’m being honest, I was in my feelings all. day. long. And I was in good company when I found myself in tears a time or two. I laughed. I cried. I smiled. I frowned. I felt excited. I felt scolded. I felt seen. Each speaker said something that hit me in my gut, opened up my heart, and compelled me to scribble furiously in my notebook so that I could sit and reflect over and over again after the event. Every speaker at last year’s event came ready to drop all the gems and, by the looks of this year’s line-up, I’m expecting much of the same. Mental health doctor, writer and professor Dr. Joy Beckwith closed out last year’s Her Village, sending each woman on her way ready to grow, and she is coming back again this year. We’ll also hear from the founder of xoNecole Necole Kane, founder of Beyond Her Brandi Harvey (yes, that Brandi Harvey), and Ivy McGregor, who, apart from being the CEO of her own social impact strategy consulting firm, is the Director of Social Responsibility for Parkwood Entertainment. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Get your notebooks and tissues ready now.
Delicious food & a great time
You can never go wrong with delicious food and an amazing atmosphere. Great food is a staple at any Village Market event. And it’s great food that you can feel great about eating because it is all plant-based. I am very much a meat-eater, but the plant-based options have never left me hungry. If you ask me, any day that starts with mimosas, ends with affirmations, and is full of Black girl magic is the perfect day and that’s exactly what you can expect from Her Village. You are almost guaranteed to smile from start to finish (even through the tears), and you will for sure leave feeling great.
Business growth & personal development
If you don’t walk away from Her Village with a new business bestie, a fresh mindset, and at least 10 new followers, you did not do Her Village right. I walked in completely unsure of myself, my business, and my expectations for the next couple hours––let alone the next month or year. By the end of the day, I was still scared, but I knew that women I had just met were rooting for me and it made all the difference. My mindset was different. I was inspired. I felt strong and ready for another year of growth for me and for my business.
Her Village is an incredibly special event that promises community and connection and maybe a little crying (happy tears). It has become essential for my health and the health of my growing business. I am so excited about attending another year, and I think you should be too! Tickets are on sale now, so get yours today.
